Privacy policy
Random Item Generator does not collect personal data, does not require an account, and sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Item generation happens on your own device, and nothing you type into a list is sent anywhere.
Measuring use
We count page views and a short, fixed list of anonymous actions: how often Generate is pressed, which format is chosen, whether a result is copied or shared. No cookies are involved. What is recorded is the kind of action and the generator it happened on, never what you typed, the names in your list, or the items you drew.
We also run Google's advertising tag to tell which ads are worth paying for. It is configured to store nothing on your device, so it sets no cookies and conversions are estimated rather than tied to you. If you arrive from an online ad, the campaign label from the link is included with these anonymous measurements. None of it identifies you, and none of it is shared or sold.
Kept in your browser
Four things are stored on your device and never leave it:
- Your light or dark theme preference, remembered for your next visit.
- Your spinner wheel's colours, spin length, and whether a winner is removed after each spin, so a wheel you set up stays that way.
- A working copy of any list you type into a picker, kept until you close the tab so a stray refresh does not lose it. Clear removes it straight away.
- The campaign label from an advertising link, if you arrived through one. It is cleared when you close the tab and never identifies you.
Sharing a link
The Share button builds a link carrying your settings and, when you share a result, the items on screen. If the list is your own, the link carries that list too, so whoever you send it to can read it.
Changes
When the site starts collecting anything new, this policy is updated first and any required consent controls appear before those features run.
