Updated September 2026

Press Generate and this random Minecraft mob generator draws a creature from the game: a creeper one roll, a friendly fox the next, the Ender Dragon after that. The pool holds all 87 mobs that spawn in Java 26.1, the copper golem, the happy ghast and the nautilus included.

A random mob makes a surprisingly good prompt. Builders use it as a challenge: get a mob, then build its ideal habitat, a themed statue, or a mob-proof base designed around it. Artists roll one as a drawing subject. Redstone and farm tinkerers use it to pick which mob farm to design next. Parents and teachers turn it into a guessing game where you describe the mob, name its drops, or act it out. Streamers use it to set a "survive a night against whatever it rolls" dare.

Keep the draw on theme with the behaviour filter. Narrow it to passive for the calm, farmable animals, neutral for the ones that leave you alone until something sets them off, hostile for the creatures that attack on sight, or boss for the two big fights. Leave it open to pull anything from a chicken to the Wither.

A single mob in list view is the fastest prompt. A grid lays a set out for a build list or a worksheet, and the wheel spins to one for a reveal a room can watch land. Share a link that carries your filter and count so a group works from the same set of mobs.

These are mob names only, with no textures or assets from the game, so the picks work as a prompt however you play.

Frequently asked questions

Does it include every mob?

It holds all 87 mobs that spawn in Java 26.1, from the allay to the zombified piglin, including the copper golem, the happy ghast and the nautilus. The giant and the illusioner are left out, because the game never spawns them in survival.

Can I get only animals?

Pick passive in the filter. That group holds the farm animals, fish, horses and every other mob that never attacks you, 36 in all.

Can I filter by mob type?

Yes. The filter splits the pool into passive, neutral, hostile and boss mobs, the way the Minecraft Wiki groups them. Neutral mobs like wolves and endermen fight back only when you provoke them.

Why is the drowned listed as neutral?

Drowned leave you alone in daylight unless you are in the water, and hunt you at night, so the Minecraft Wiki now lists them as neutral. The filter follows it.
